Yes, Rlyeh now has 2 Zodiacs, codewarrior, and an unknown amount of GP32's. But, who cares? He'll develope for what he wants to regardless of anyone else. Buying him another Zodiac and Codewarrior isn't going to make him switch overnight - he'll still develope for what /he/ wants to develope for, and I think he already made that clear.

Personally, however, I think it's just going to turn into another Yoyo incident. He'll release an emulator some time in the future, and the rest of the board will scream and shout saying they can't use it because it's not signed. The more emulators he releases, the more people that complain, and he'll probably stop doing them. Talking of which, I've not seen Yoyo do anything for a while, but that could be because the GPL issue still hasn't been solved.

yoyo has stated that if the gpl issues aren't sorted then he won't bother deving for the zod, hes going to move to palmos5.

Yah I quoted that in my post on the Zodiac Gamer boards. They don't want to admit it though.

Tapwave could have really done something good in the homebrew community but they ruined it with the GPL issues in my opinion.

just point them to the ljz page:

It will be perhaps one of the last few updates before switching to standard PalmOS 5, i.e. without supporting Zodiac
if GPL issue with Tapwave license cannot be solved.

Link here, to use as evidence.

I've done one application for the Z (Alpha version of Lynx emu). I have the same problem as Yoyo - it contains large amounts of GPL code, but I'm not allowed to distribute the code under the Tapwave Developer Agreement. Also, I have to send every version to Tapwave for signing, or restrict the release to developers only. Not something I wanted to do.

Doing PalmOS5 only support doesn't really interest me, as I think with the way things are going at the moment, we are going to find more Microsoft stuff in more and more handheld devices unfortunately. Hell, they've even got an OS for MMDs now (Multi Media Devices - like MP3 players and Video players). So I don't see the point there.

So I've decided to scrap all Zodiac development and just do GP32 stuff until the next thing comes out thats looks interesting (probably the DS).

Unfortunately though he said he is moving from Zodiac to Palm OS5, but didn't mention going back to GP32 stuff :(

The GPL issue is being sorted, i cant say much more at the moment but there should be news fairly soon. Squidge, if you contact Joyce at tapwave dev about your emulator they will be able to arrange something for you. PM me if you need further information.

Its not much of an issue really.

ie: You can fully take advantage of all TW features, without having a GPL issue. ITs only when the app is developed a specific way that the GPL fights with the license. Its just that LJZ by Yoyo is done that way, and so brings the issue to forefront. (And just as wlel, to get the issue resolved).

Aso to flamers.. I'm sick of idiot flamers. GP32 and Zodiac *are* brothers, and oneone who bitches one side or the other out is a jackass.

Wolfsclaw -- you've made just as many inflamatory remarks as anyone else.. the simple fact of it is.. ignore it!

Theres always assholes, on every side. If peopel go arond responding to asswads, it just keeps going. Don't feed the trolls!

You don't reply to spam do you?

People people people.. get over it; GP32 and Zodia are both the small guys. They should rejoice in their individuality.

Christ.

jeff

I think I will start making a license for my saoftware, so pepole cannot use it if they're a jackass.

People WHINGE too much in both camps. Why not just bloody well enjoy it all! EH?

To those who are way too wrapped up in it.... (and you know who you are, even if you deny it!)

There's more to life (and some may disagree) than getting to play all the games you like on a small screen. Hmmm....

If you find yourself taking it too seriously - go out, find some friends that will spend some more time with you, enjoy the countryside, have some non-game-based fun, see that there is more in life to think about....

Than come back and enjoy the VAST quantity of free work that people have done, and quit whinging about it.

Cheers :D
