Since I may not be getting back to my own game project, here are the freely-distributed .mod (Amiga Tracker Modules) music files I was planning to use, along with some additional ones I think sound cool. I didn't make any of these, most come from modarchive.com. To my knowledge, they are all original - not remixes of some other game's music. I spent like two weeks picking these out. They're in no particular order. Please be kind to my webserver and download up to two at a time (the bandwidth is split anyway). Music with the * are my favorities.

hum... if it's on modarchive.com.. why to put that here ?

The most important is to try to contact autors and ask them if you could use the song in your project before download.

Songs are not free.

Yep, falken is right. Just because they're available on modarchive doesn't mean they're allowed to be hosted for download elsewhere, and heck, it doesn't mean they can be used for free in any project!
It's very unlikely that someone will sue you, but still, assuming media are free for any use just because they are downloadable on the net might cause trouble.

Not all of these songs are available on modarchive.com, and uploading to my server is far, far easier then having to browse modarchive.com manually for the links (since their search engine is broken).

And as I said, all of these files are available for public distribution. Contacting the author for use of these files in a game project is common sense.

It would be nice to be able to play .SPC SNES modules too. I wonder who would be able to make a player for those?

I know there are XM players available, but I haven't seen any libraries for a mikplay port floating around.

Erk, can someone direct me to a GP32 player for XMs with playlist support? I've got about 100mbs worth of XMs and it'd be really cool to be able to listen to them on my GP32, and out of all the ones I've tried that claim to support it, none of them actuelly have it, just normal MOD and S3M playing abilaties. The only time I've actuelly heard a XM playing was when playing the GP32 port of Naz2ia.

some of my collection are mods I ripped from keygens (simply apply ResHack & turn the ascii dump back into Binary, because ResHack doex odd dumps with unknown file types...) (ORiON often use original tracks, making it worthwhile....) but I obviously don't use these tracks for anything more than listening.

A mate of mine has made a few ITs and XMs, but I don't think they are all that suitable for a game yet.

I can recomend you checkout josSs's site:
