To the Guys with FW 3.00 - Which SD Cards are you using? My Sandisk is a no-go for bootsounds sad.gif

Oh, and once I've updated, do you think I'd have to keep the new card or carry on using the old one with the correct file copied over? (I'm kinda attatched to it!)

*scratches head*

Thanks guys!

I'm on 3.0 and it worked as well. I'm using a SanDisk microSD, actually.

I did teh Xbox 360 bootsound if anyone is interested. Working great on my machine.

For the life of me, I have tried multiple times with multiple SD cards, and cannot get this thing to transfer.

I'm trying to get the vader sound mentioned earlier onto my GP2X. I put in in the root directory of the SD named as gp2xsound.wav, hold down select and start, and turn the machine on. Nothing but ordinary boot sequence - the only thing changed is maybe the autorun (on the SD's that had it) didn't run. No vader - just the ordinary bing. I have a Sandisk 2GB, a PNY 1GB, and a PQI 1GB. I didn't expect the PQI to work (it's kinda cheesy) but PNY is a top brand, and others have succeeded with Sandisk. I have no idea why *my* setup would be different.

Any one have any ideas?

Huh.

Well, I tried the Pac Man one, and it worked. So I guess it's the source file... but someone else got vader to work... odd.

Ah well, I guess I'll d/l Audacity and see if I can't slap it into shape.

P.S. I'll see what I can do about getting Sinistar's "I LIVE" into the archive...

I have "I LIVE" all ready to upload, but I get the license error, and the link to bypass that in this thread doesn't recognize my login...

eh, it's late; I'll try again tomorrow.

I had the same problem when I tried to create my own for my f-200. after tests, I discovered that
sounds have to be 22050 kh 16 bit. otherwise, your gp2x will bypass the loading "updating firmware" screen.
I made the coin dropping sound from the begining of Dragon's Lair as a boot sound. sound good!
just put it up on http://archive.gp2x.de/. look under startup sounds, 2nd page

Hey all,

I am in a little bit of annoyance here. I've also tried to change the startup sound to the FLCL one, and to no avail. Just always skips it and plays the normal startup jingle.

Probably should also mention I am running FW3 (Value Pack). Is it any different from the previous firmwares to change the startup sound?

-Josh

EDIT: So I downloaded Audacity, shortened the WAV, and it did the 'Firmware Upgrading...' screen. Fine. I let it boot. Shut it down, and turn it back on. No sound at all. Why?

EDIT 2: Alright, so I replaced it with another sound, and it seems to work. But I think the problem is that the FLCL snippet is longer than 2.7s, and you can't really edit it to that short time, if you want the opening chords to 'Ride on Shooting Star'.
