hi,

is there some way (easy + cheap) to connect 2 devices? Transfer rate would not matter to me.

Serial port. 115200 bps depending on length of cable. All you would need is 2xExt plugs and some cable.

BTW, Why are you asking about GP2X's in a GP32 forum? blink.gif

But you also need to stop the firmware outputting a load of rubbish to the serial port.

Very little is output when a program is running, and besides, you can packetise the data so you ignore the crap smile.gif

you could probably also have proper tcp/ip networking by connecting the usb-d of one gp2x to the usb-h of the other

Buying a PC to link 2 GP2X's together isn't exactly cheap wink.gif

Is it actually possible to connect two f100s together using just a cunning USB cable of some sort and USB networking? Surely?

The other approach is wait for these mythical WiFi SD cards and drivers to appear - I thought someone was working on these?

What about Bluetooth SD cards? Need drivers of course. Blah, it's all too hard. Pity it just didn't come with some sort of wireless LAN. The f200 would have been more useful with this instead of the touchscreen IMHO.

You can do usb host -> device if you have the appropriate drivers, same goes for bluetooth, wifi, and pretty much everything else apart from serial (which would still take some doing, but at least you don't have to write a kernel-level driver, you should be able to get away with just some standard i/o code in each program you want to share across the link).

Serial would definitely suffice. I'll check how far I might get.
Is there any way of getting some standard cable for this? Or must I buy a tv-out cable and cut it open?

USB network would be much better - specially for what I have in mind.
It would be easy to compile MAME with networking so that we could enjoy nice multiplayer gaming.
Same goes for CPS2EMU - which on the PSP has a fantastic adhoc multiplayer mode. But this needs reasonably fast TCP/IP networking. USB network would be ideal. Or WiFi. Or even Bluetooth. The wireless networking would be more desirable.

The only idea I had isn't quite novel (or cheap).

If you had 3 gp2x's spare, 2 gp2x usb cables and the cradle, you could use one gp2x with the cradle and have that acting as a server and plug the other two gp2x's into the cradle using the usb cables that's supplied with the unit.

If you can set up that client/server connection, then 2 GP2Xs and one cable is enough.
