The video's in germen, so I have no idea what they're saying, but if you skip 3 minutes in they have a closeup of a Pandora. I looks lovely biggrin.gif

My complete lack of understanding of the German Language left me fairly frustrated whilst watching the chip.de interview of ED. Anyone care to translate?

he mentions something about it being similar to the nintendo DS, and it being a mini PC-PDA hybrid. that's all I could understand. sad.gif

I don't know German either but from what I gathered ED was just talking about its features(wifi, touchscreen, etc.) what games it can play(dif. emulators like amiga and psx, and homebrew) and that it's not just for gaming, but a umpc as well. He mentioned the websites(openpandora.org and .de) and probably something about price/dates, but I dunno. A proper translation would be nice no doubt, but I'm not sure anything new was said.

I looked at the price in US dollars a few days ago, and I was a little surprised about the price. I'm willing to pay that though, it runs Linux, is open, has a key board, wifi, all the other features, and is still cheaper than all the other umpcs. Also, it's probably the most UM of the UMPCs out there.

I'm not too good with spoken german the way I am with written text but I can give you a vague translation.

This is the first public prototype of the Pandora. It's a handheld about the same size as a DS which we have been developing over the past year. It's a combination of a mini-pc, pda and games console. It runs on Linux so it's free software, so that anyone who already programs for linux can program for this.
<Not sure what is said here but I think ED said that you don't have to run linux use it, just copy programs onto the sd card and go>
<Something I don't understand at all>
It has an 800x480 screen, touchscreen, keyboard, WLAN so it's great for surfing the net, messaging and writing emails.
- So What can you play on pandora?
It's possible to play emulators like Amiga or other emulators up to the Playstation. Or of course you can play homebrew games or self-written games. There are already quite a few good ones for linux.
- My question is when can I buy it, where and for how much?
All the info is on openpandora.de, Preorders will start on 30th September for 250 Euro and it should be sent out on 13th November.

I think the US price is lower at $330 because it doesn't include VAT

i checked the price on openpandora.org and it still says 330 (it has been 330 for months), but 240 euro is way higher than that, so did it actually increase, or are prices really that different?

Any one else catch the blog entry by ED?
This could be old news and I'm just completely oblivious.

EDIT:@enigmacipher The European price includes VAT, and the US price does not.

The blog entry on .de is the same as on .org just saying about the video.
