and craig, a few months ago you mentioned writing out the whole backstory of the pandora's development. Is this still planned or is it too complicated now?

Doom3 would be at the limits of what you could expect from the 3D hardware, but remember it would be at a lower resolution on the Pandora and also although ID have said it will go open source, it isn't yet, and I did write that it isn't open source yet in the interview, it would also need some hacking to lower the RAM needed, although they did get it running on the Xbox with 64MB.
Yeah, I expect Doom III engine based games (and Quake IV engine-based games, since they are so similar) and their mods will run with relative ease, maybe with a bit of texture size reduction. QUOTE
The internet is the future and it does not need Microsoft.
We can all hope that happens soon.

"A complete desktop environment is already up and running – Ubuntu will run on the Pandora."
Does that mean we now know what the pandora's OS will either be, or be based on in the end?
Ubuntu is capable of running on the Pandora. Though nobody has compiled it specifically for the Pandora board yet, you can watch a video of Ubuntu running on the Beagle Board (which uses nearly identical hardware) to get an idea of the performance.
The Pandora will ship with a much simpler UI that is more suited for a handheld device. If you wish to install Ubuntu, the option will likely become available shortly after launch (if not before).

I don't know about anyone else but I'm sick of seeing craig bad mouth GPH and GP. Evildragon on the other hand even is not completely pleased with them doesn't go into that sort of talk.
Selling their devices is what led to him being able to put out Pandora at all. They paved the way for any open source handhelds. Craig is both riding on any success gp2x had and blaming any problems on GPH.

Commenting on the shortcomings of their predecessors and stating how they plan to improve upon the previous generation isn't necessarily badmouthing, IMO.

You guys whine even more than the pandora fanboys do.
the fact of the matter is- gp2x was implemented horribly. gp2x has no idea what we, some of their primary consumers, want, and don't care.
there is a reason so many people like the pandora, it IS what we want, and they DO listen.
stop being so goddamn sentimental.

Do we really have to discuss this... AGAIN?

Actually, this oft quoted idea seems to be a bit of a myth. The primary GP2X consumers are Korean people wanting a tool to help teach English.
Is this sarcasm? I don't see how homebrew games help you learn English (unless they were English learning games).

No, deadly serious. Most of their sales are from Vocamaster.
