Monk, excellent as always, and I like the Pandora eyes. :-b

I'm almost done with my first Blender tutorial, won't be anything I use hear, but the basis for other characters...

Cheers!

Splendid, Monk. I've seen all of those before, of course, so I can't give you my first impression again, but splendidly done.

...I might as well add something that I made a while ago...
Yet another short render (took 15 hours or so ;) ):

I'm not really a skilled modeler, but do instead compose basic shapes and materials. That's why most of my images look "simple" in many ways.

Works by me:

Seen through shards

Pandora in the dark

Shards (Yeah, stupid name, I know)

Glass glow (Dito)

Ore scout

Glass farm

http://pandorawalls....iew/1/thumbnail
Unique cube

And I'll remind you all again:

What you get:

ONE important thing:
BE SURE you do NOT use any copyrighted material (of course, we allow everyone to use any of the Pandora logos for that).

If you don't know where you got it, odds are that you do not have the copyright.

Yeah, for all we know, it might have been drawn by Ballmer in some sort of therapy session... You see, the fly represents open source ideology...

This was just a quick model render for a rather simplistic wallpaper. Comments and criticisms are welcome, although the "It would be better if..."s are most welcome. :) Enjoy.

That's pure balls.

But to be serious.

Change the text in to the actual pandora text, vectors are on the wiki, I'm sure!

Pretty sweet though!

I was forced to crash-course paths in GIMP for this. :P

Fix'd:

Continue to constructively criticize. :)

I like the idea of the design. Overall, the sharp lights and high contrast kind of kills my eyes. I'm a maya guy and I'm guessing this is blender so unfortunately I can't give any pointers.

Pointer: Don't use Blenders built-in renderer if you want more dull lights; use Yafaray or LuxRender. You get more fine-grained control over the specularity of materials that way, too.

I was actually thinking how bright the lights were might be a problem. And I had tried to use Yafaray before but I couldn't get it to work. I guess this is a prime reason to actually get it to work then, yeah? When I get back to my own computer I'll see if I can address this. :)

Edit:

So Yafaray isn't exactly the most user-friendly bit of software I've ever used. In light of this, I found some Blender-native ways to fix the light thing. Although the new result is a bit darker than the other one overall, so I might set a low-power spotlight to shine on the front of the stack, just to make the whole thing slightly brighter. Fix'd V2.0

... And I also just learned I never saved my changes to get that new render. Curses, flabbergasting lack of a prompt-quit feature in Blender! Whatever. Here's another non-specular, with a spotlight, but without the other changes:
