So in addition to what the caanoo can already do, what are the benefits of Mplayer? Does it offer extra resolution support or extra codec support?
Sorry for this silly question, i just want to know what mplayer can really do! Thanks!
What Are The Extra Formats And Resolutions That Mplayer Supports?

i don't know what's compiled into the Caanoo version of mplayer, but mplayer usually plays *anything* you show it
this includes many subtitle formats, not only the sick .smi the caanoo player supports (which is btw a very good stuff, plays 480p movies smoothly)
