I have a version that compile on the gp2x, still far from perfect (and my usb networking is broken so it's painfull to debug)
But I'll try to publish it when I'll find some time :)

Thanks for this Pepone. Hand held Neo Geo Rules. :D

Not had any luck getting it working though, guess I need a newer romset. :(

I've got a few questions though :

1) What bios files are required?
2) Where do you put the bios files?
3) Do the roms have to named in a certain way / saved in a certain format (.zip, 7z, unzipped, etc) to be recognised?
4) Is there any documentation for this emulator?

Apologies if I've missed something obvious.

1) standard bios file as used by recent mame will be fine
2) put neogeo.zip at the same place than your roms
3) Yes. Roms need to be in zip format and the naming convention is the same as Mame.
4) Unfortuantly, not really, I suck at documentation.

You need a more recent one, something like a romset compatible with "mame 0.106" or "fba next".

So only roms compatiple with MAME .106 will run? Because none of the roms i have will work in this gngeo version and i tried getting some current romsets but they don't work either.
I'm wondering how to obtain roms for this version of MAME.

You might suck at documentation but you more than make up for it with speedy 'customer' support. Thanks for the reply, will have a go with some mame Roms in the next day or two. :D

I tried a romset made for a really more recent version than mame 0.106 and it work.

Can you try "unzip -lv xxxx.zip" where xxxx is your romfile, and copy/paste the result?

Hi, as far as I can tell, you can use the latest MAME neogeo set for both roms and bios.

Most of the encrypted sets I've tried crash the emulator while decrypting data. However, some small encrypted sets do work.
According to the .drv files, there's a difference for the KoF99 set 1 and set 2, some file names and crcs are mixed between the two sets (set 1 is MVS for MAME, and AES for Gngeo)

Some games have black screen after loading (SVC chaos bootleg), some have Z80 error (Samurai spirit 4 - was ok with 08b2 )
This version seems to have some kind of stability problem : If I try to load SVC bootleg, then without quitting, load a working game, most of the time the emulator crashes.
And an other weird stuff is, sometimes Garou bootleg will start, and some other times, will crash while loading. Can't find a good way to reproduce this error on demand.

Is there a way to add decryption at data loading time ?

Otherwise, good job pepone.

romcenter worked for me with some game I was having trouble running in mame 106. Sarlix wrote up an easy walk through here: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?/topic/53756-mame-106/page__view__findpost__p__892770

There is quite an easy way to create any MAME ROM set using clrmamepro.

1. Profiler : Create and load profile for MAME 0.106.
2. Settings : Create ROM path for your MAME 0.106 ROM set.
3. Rebuilder : Deactivate "Recompress Files" for performance reasons. Now simply drag & drop your actual and rollback MAME ROM directory simultaneously into the Rebuilder window.
4. That's it. Wait until your new MAME 0.106 ROM set has been created. It takes some time.

All you need is an actual and the corresponding rollback MAME ROM set.

Concerning some bootleg, some are not supported for now (specific encryption), I should not show them in the roms browser I guess :)

For the romset to use, actually, I did not test specificaly one conpatible with Mame106, it was just a guess. I've done many test on a more recent one (something like 0.130 )

If you have issue with a rom, you can send me the result of the folowing command:
unzip -lv xxxxxxxx.zip
where xxxxxxxx.zip is your rom

For those who have issue with large encrypted roms like garou or mslug3, please try under minimenu, and if if still don't work, can you send me the result of the folowing command (it tells how many free memory you have):
free

I've tried with minimenu yesterday, same result. I'll send the free memory size later.

Thanks for the unzip result. Did you use -lv has option? it should have shown the crc32 of each files

Also do you have an error message? or gngeo crash?
