Is there an acorn archimedes emulator that works and if so where can I find it?
I have been unable to find one for the caanoo on the usual channels, but it could be because I'm new to this scene.

There's one for the GP2X

You could try it with Ginge though to be honest with you I haven't found an emulator that works with Ginge yet.

Hi all! I have some interest in the Acorn Archimedes as well, i have never used or seen one but i do remember them being around in the old amiga days.

From what i gather it was a very nice machine, 2-3x as fast as the amiga for 3d graphics(compare Zarch to Virus), and it was roughly the same speed as the amiga for 2d, it had a very fast cpu but no custom chips like the amiga had for 2d work(blitter etc).
For some reason though it didn't sell that well, maybe because of the high price at the time! I here it was popular in England's schools!

It would be nice to see a port of Arcem to the caanoo, i tried the gp2x version for you guys(and me:) just before though ginge, but i only got a black screen and it doesn't work.

Here is the official page for ArcEm if anyone is interested in porting it.

http://arcem.sourceforge.net/

Han.

Temper!

But in all there are few, that's why i hope for ports for NeoGeo-Pocket and Lynx.

Hi, there is already a port of the UNGP NeoGeo-Pocket emulator, i have it on my caanoo and it works fine.

I got it a while back, i think it's beta and hasn't been posted on the openhandheld site yet.

Look here- http://pdroms.de/files/caanoo/ungp

Han.

PS: As for the Archimedes, i would imagine an emulator would run nicely on the caanoo.
The Archimedes and Caanoo both use Arm processors, Archy has an Arm2, Cannoo has a Arm9.
Even though there decades apart, would this making emulating and porting it any easier i wonder?
Plus if the gp2x can emulate it, i'm sure the caanoo can to!

The ones I tried (as there were no caanoo ports) were the BBC, Lynx and Videopac(odyssey2) emulators.
I really hope that someone can port these 3 to Caanoo as I thought the GP2X versions were great
