So I recently bought a Caanoo and I was wondering if I needed to upgrade my firmware to play emulators if my device info is as follows:

Version : 1.6.1
Firmware : Linux 2.6.24 Revision: 167

1.6.1 is the latest(and probably last) version. So, there is no need for a change.
