Basically I was wondering how to decompile the yaff2 nand file that is bundled with the caanoo firmware update. Basically I wanted to explore the files inside so that I could maybe play around with the possibility of creating a custom firmware and just being able to really dig into the behind the scenes action of the caanoo firmware.

I had a look around the internet and did find tool to decompile certain yaff2 nand img files however when I tried to open the caanoo firmware img the tool gave me an error and was unable to open it.

If there are any developers that could shed some light on this it would be amazing, thanks :D

These tools might be helpful: http://code.google.com/p/yaffs2utils/ http://code.google.com/p/yaffey/

You could also just look at the NAND filesystem on the device using SSH (or copy/tar it to SD card).

Awesome, I've tried out the second link and that works pretty well, I was able to extract most of the system images and I hopefully after learning a bit more about the SDK and development I am hopefully going to to try to make a new skinning app for the caanoo so that you can change much more of the system images than the current version that is readily available.

The only thing I can't find in there that I really wanted was the animation or images that drive the boot sequence.

Also sorry about the duplicate thread, when I tried to post this originally it cam up with a server error so I reloaded and clicked post without checking to see if the one before had actually worked, sorry.
