Hi, I was wondering if anybody here has purchased a K1GBA and what they thought about it. I got one this past weekend and while I like the system the dpad is pretty rough. You have to push really hard to get it to respond which is a big problem when playing difficult twitch based games. The reason I am posting here is because when I first got my GP2X Wiz I remember someone posting a very helpful tutorial on how to dissect and adjust the pivot for the dpad, so what I was wondering is:

A) If anyone has a K1GBA and are experiencing the same issues.
B) If anyone has taken apart their K1 and give me a few pointers and things to look out for.

I'm not a electronics person so I'm worried opening this thing up on my own. A friend suggested if I can get underneath the dpad inserting a simple piece of cardboard may alleviate my problems.

It seems that some of the original batches have a few problems, maybe you are unlucky enough to get a unit from one of these batches. I'm waiting for a while before ordering to try and avoid this if possible.

I apologize for this inconvenience. I wonder if you bought your K1 from k1gba site? For the problem of the d-pad, we suggest you to press the buttons heavier these days. There is one sheet inside the device to protect the d-pads. You need to press the buttons heavier and it will be in good control after a few days. The same thing always happen on other electronics. The more time you use it, the more convenient you will fee.

There is no problem for the original batches. Some people may feel it the d-pad or the buttons a little hard to register. That is because they are not used to play K1. The more time you use this device, the more convenient you will feel. It is the same situation when you use other eletronics.

There are two ways for you to let your d-pad or buttons register well if they got some problems on them:

1. Press the d-pad or buttons heavier- press the d-pad or buttons and turn around your thumb- yes, press the buttons heavily and Twist them.

2. Open the device and use the knife to clean the metal dome/ snap dome.

We had confirmed with the manufacture. The reason why you feel d-pad or buttons not register is because of the metal dome or snap dome. This part is used to be one of the switch for the buttons. As all devices are new, this metal dome may be Oxidation. The two ways I mentioned before is to try to remove the Oxidation Membrane covered on the metal dome. It is this Oxidation Membrane effect the buttons registered well.

For a few new devices, this problem may happen. But it will gone after you press the buttons for a long time.

I've opened the device and see the metal dome you are talking about but I don't understand how I'm suppose to clean it.

If you had opened the device and find the metal dome, then use a knife to Scratch the surface of the metal dome. This is to remove the Oxidation that cover on it. Try it and and let me know if it can work.
