change the third line for sure.
exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe roms/karnovr.zip

otherwise /roms references from root, which in this case is your linux os.

wasn't too sure about the way directory worked have now changed it & I still get the same result. This is very frustrating I've spent some time on this but still can't see whats wrong...

changed this - "exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe /roms/karnovr.zip --sound 1> gngeo.log.txt 2>&1"

to

"exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe /mnt/sd//roms/karnovr.zip --sound 1> gngeo.log.txt 2>&1"

thanks anyway maybe I'll just wait until next version although I'd like to see something working now just because.

you have to many "/" ....you don't need "/" between gngeo.gpe roms/karnovr.zip

just copy this exactly

#/bin/sh
cd /mnt/sd/gngeo
exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe roms/karnovr.zip --sound

and makesure your roms folder is inside the gngeo folder

;)

That's how I had it at first but since it wouldn't work I experimented with different structures. Still not working only thing I can assume is it must be another problem....

Sounds like a bad dump to me. When you see the arrow, normally it starts unzipping the ROM from there. See if you can find another to try out.

morph80: What app did you use to write the script? Don't use notepad or wordpad, use something like Programmers notepad and save it as a Unix Format (LF).

I started up the discuession page there - but I've got results that differ from yours because we're using different rom dumps.  We need to record something about the dump used or the list is pretty meaningless.

Te better would be to have a way to check dump for their compatibility with GnGeo. Pepone, is there a roms lists with integrity information available for GnGeo ? (something like -listinfo for MAME ou a dat file for ClrMamePro) ?

Technicaly, gngeo load a rom only if it find a corresponding driver. Driver are describe in the romrc file.
For now, the check is only done on the roms filenames.
It seems that lastest mame romset are a little different than before, but still use the same rom naming. It may explain the problem.

Nice one Kayday this was infact the problem was using wordpad but not saving in unix file format so end of line could not be determind correctly - Linux stuff is all new to me. Tried Karnov's Revenge, Art of Fighting & Breakers Revenge all of which run very well @ 260mhz bar minor sound sync issues. Nice work Pepone, Does Gngeo use both prcessors? if not will this eventually be the case?

uses MMU loading techniques similar to the ol GBA emu for gp32 for large roms, and supposedly, its running quite well!

I was wondering, do you think Reesy's Drz80, and soundchip cores would help? They are ASM, very fast and would probably speed things up alot. You mentioned cyclone and that should speed things up if it works. Franxis, Reesy, and Flubba have been also implementing those ASM cores into MAME. Maybe you could get some info from them. Megadrive went from unplayably slow to rockin' just by changing to cyclone.

Great work, this is one to watch.

I would donate for a fullspeed w/sound MVS emu too. The GP2X is almost perfect for it. The screen resolution matches almost perfect, full screen with no stretching.

Cyclone is currently use in the released version. And it give a nice boost indeed. (But my memory handler may not be optimum)
I'm planning to use drz80 too. But I don't know the "soundchip" core. You mean a fm synthesis emulator in arm asm?

Oppps, my bad. its the NeoCD emu altered and using specially made "prefetch" packs for individual games for them to run faster. Its on the dreamcast.
