Full Version: Smallish Screen?

Just realized that the screen is 3,5' which is the same as my little Pocket Pc (HP 2210) somehow I had in my mind got the impression that it was a tad bigger. Anyhow, do you guys feel that the screen size is enough? Can you read in-game text properly and so on?

Cheers

Screen size is plenty big imo and i use it to watch subtitled movies and play rpg's with lots of text.

When I first got my GP2X I thought everything about it was TINY, then after awhile I decided that it was more than big enough.

From what I have seen so far, Outcast uses the smallest size text out of all of the games, and I have no problem reading it. If you look at these (bad) photo's I took you will see that the text is perfectly readable, even though many of the letters on the ST OS (green screen) are only 5 or 6 pixels wide.
You may experience problems reading text on things that have been scaled down, but these cases are few and far between.

Unless you are one of those people who uses a 19"+ screen at 800x600 you should be able to see and read everything perfectly.

Alex.
Perhaps a 40" plasma would better suit your needs. tongue.gif

Ohh, cool pictures! Outcast is what I'm gonna load up first, seeing it in action is really mouthwatering. Do you have any problems with it or are you satisfied (Outcast that is)?

I'm more that satisfied with Outcast. Skeezix has done an amazing job. I haven't really managed to get very far in Space Quest, as the first game requires you to type quite fast in parts and I'm still not fully up to speed with the virtual keyboard. I've managed to get sat down in the escape pod in SQ1 before the ship blows up, so I am getting there.

A few weeks ago I came up with an idea of how get around this problem, but I don't think skeezix saw it.

Outcast could do with some sort of "keyboard buffer", where you could go to the emulator menu, type a string into the buffer, and then go back to the game. When you get to a part that needs the buffer you could then press a button and the emulator automatically types in the buffer. Or something like that smile.gif.

Take what you want cool.gif . I think I have the original pictures lying around somewhere, so I can send you higher quality versions if you wish.

I've only played Space Quest on Outcast as I don't really know what games are worth playing on the Atari ST. I might give Police Quest a go over the weekend, but that requires even faster typing than SQ blink.gif .

Seeing Space Quest 3 playing on the GP2X is the most amazing thing ever. Even if you have never played Space Quest 3, you should load it up in Outcast just to watch the intro. Hearing that SQ theme by Bob Siebenberg (from Supertramp) pumping out of those tiny speakers gives me a funny feeling wink.gif .

3.5" is more than big enough. It is meant to be a portable console you know.

And skeezix, I use your emu a lot. Thanks very much.

Javacat -- I have a blog entry with some lists of games _I_ remember (ie: Not some 'best of', but its best ofs from my memory smile.gif Theres also my screenshot gallery which shows a random 30 shots or somesuch.. just arbitrary, not a best-of, but you can see some good screenies smile.gif

Check the www.codejedi.com/castaway site for some links

I just got ahold of the author of Time Bandits.. so my remake may even be 'okay' smile.gif
