What is your opinion on it? huh.gif

EDIT: added another pic

Looks really nice. I wonder if it will be any good.
Jester
It looks awesome.................. but let's wait and see until the launch to see if this this thing is any good smile.gif
SONY
9 outta 10...I will definitely get this...although I do wish for a d-pad to be put in for the FINAL product and another analog stick on the right side maybe? wink.gif

I wonder if you can take the joystick cap off and fit it on the gp2x? wink.gif
Huxley
Well, it's not ugly, I'll give it that much at least.

But are those speakers I spy on the side of the unit? If they expect us to use the shoulder buttons much, that's an exceedingly dumb place to put some speakers...

Guys it looks to have a built in stand, so that is awesome! biggrin.gif

They've already stated that they're aiming at a slice of the PSP's pie, and this design would appear to verify that. They were also quite hostile to the idea of homebrew support on the system during the early publicity for the XGP, but if they've changed their minds in the wake of the GP2X remains to be seen.

Until Gamepark release some more concrete facts and figures it's really anyone's guess.

Cool! It does too. smile.gif
By the way, is the LCD screen straight or curved?

I think it has a protective plastic cover or something on top of the screen..... wink.gif
SONY
No, I mean, is the screen perfect in rectangular shape?
Metal-Geo
It does indeed look damn sexy. The stand is brilliant and a nice big screen for 3D. I would like to know the dimensions of this thing though (or I'm looking with my nose if they are already told).

That my friend looks to be an optical illusion. On the top half of the outer part of the screen it is wider than the bottom, making it look distorted.....I am pretty sure. cool.gif
SONY
Ok, thanks for the explaination man. This is the best thread. Thanks again. smile.gif
Paradox
XGP hardware with GP2x's software...would rock
JaqMs
I don't see how in the world you can assume it has an analog control stick. The last pic shows that it is connected by a thin stick. I'm pretty sure analog pads have a different design.
GpDogg
it kinda reminds me of a gamegear!

I really do like the look of it mind, i just hope its as slim as it seems.

Is it me, or does the unit LOOK heavy? the heavier the better wink.gif i just hope its as good as it looks really. If its battling the psp, what are its weapons to do so?
SONY
analog sticks/nubs have had many different looks
N64, Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX etc, all look different from each other.
bagmouse7
Who cares about the hardware, what about the games?
I have seen 0 games or even any real details on who is going to write games for this thing.

SONY
Quake 3 might be cuming?
OCA|
Am I the only one worried about the position of the power button? It looks like I'd accidentally hit it when playing.

-OCA|
SONY
Don't worry man, it's probably one of those power buttons where you have to hold it for a few secs to power off, prolly?
Now accidentally pressing the LCD button (brightness level button) is another story? sad.gif

Even worse, the power and LCD on/off buttons are on the side, AND they look like the kind you press down. DESIGN FLAW ALERT!
SONY
Well, eventually someone in their stupid design testing team will see the 4 or 5 flaws on it and make some changes, hopefully. smile.gif
Paradox
um, do any of you even have a gp2x? the power button is in the same place, and it requires some force to actually turn it on and off, who's to say the same wont apply for the XGP?
Tobriand
No they won't. This *is* Gamepark we're talking about. They're much more likely to notice the design successes, think of them as flaws for some reason, and add about 10 more.

I don't understand why everyone likes D-pads, though. The NGPC and the GP32 both played wonderfully with their joysticks, whilst on a GBC I only ever found myself able to last an hour at a time without feeling like I was about to get carpal tunnel syndrome... and it was all to do with the D-pad, imo.
SONY
Playing Super Famicom/Nintendo back in the early - mid 90's....D-Pad...that is all. biggrin.gif
K0K0NUT_h3lmut
I don't like those shoulder buttons, but they prolly look worse than they are. And that power button(notice, not a "slider" like on GP2X) placement is scary...

and wtf@ huh.gif

""(without quotes rolleyes.gif )= huh.gif ?
JaqMs
D-pads on a small handheld will make it even more portable since there's nothing sticking out.
SONY
I concur.
Squidge
Wow, do I see a joystick that looks half usable? wink.gif
Julius
They seem to have learned a bit from the GP2X stick situation smile.gif
Vimacs
gamepark? learn? whahahah

Actually it....would suck

Since most of the GP2X software is emulators playing stretched out to 16:9 with an analog stick is shite.

Which means it is always on draining power. Another one of those systems that drains itself so when you go to use it the battery is dead, great wink.gif

Useable for what? not emus, the stick is analog. The cap looks decent though.

Why everyone else is repeating themselves. They are saying over and over how great the XGP is blah, blah.
JaqMs
Yet again, you claim the stick is analog with no evidence that it is actually analog. If I saw a GP2X with your stick, I could also make the assumption that it is analog.
Vimacs
If you see some people jumping from a bridge, will you as well?

It is in the original specs. It makes sense too because 3D is the focus of this and analog is used mostly for 3D nowdays.

"If so let me find some people and a bridge" huh? What an ass...

Oh, edited your post, decided it was too immature huh wink.gif

i know your a guru now and everything but why do you have to double post so much? lost your edit button?

i noticed this sudden spasm of double posting from you a few days ago but decided not to say anything, but you seem to do it quite a lot...whats the deal?
mainnine
does anyone by chance know of a release date announcement yet?
iignotus
He used to do it all the time. He has a lot to say, I guess. Give him a break.

if everyone on the forum started double posting it would be very silly, thats why its usual considered frowned upon, its not hard to edit your post, you only double post if the thread is old and nobody will see your post if you edit it.
