9 outta 10...I will definitely get this...although I do wish for a d-pad to be put in for the FINAL product and another analog stick on the right side maybe?

Well, it's not ugly, I'll give it that much at least.
But are those speakers I spy on the side of the unit? If they expect us to use the shoulder buttons much, that's an exceedingly dumb place to put some speakers...

They've already stated that they're aiming at a slice of the PSP's pie, and this design would appear to verify that. They were also quite hostile to the idea of homebrew support on the system during the early publicity for the XGP, but if they've changed their minds in the wake of the GP2X remains to be seen.
Until Gamepark release some more concrete facts and figures it's really anyone's guess.

No, I mean, is the screen perfect in rectangular shape?

Mar 3 2006, 11:29 PM
It does indeed look damn sexy. The stand is brilliant and a nice big screen for 3D. I would like to know the dimensions of this thing though (or I'm looking with my nose if they are already told).

That my friend looks to be an optical illusion. On the top half of the outer part of the screen it is wider than the bottom, making it look distorted.....I am pretty sure.

I don't see how in the world you can assume it has an analog control stick. The last pic shows that it is connected by a thin stick. I'm pretty sure analog pads have a different design.

it kinda reminds me of a gamegear!
I really do like the look of it mind, i just hope its as slim as it seems.
Is it me, or does the unit LOOK heavy? the heavier the better

i just hope its as good as it looks really. If its battling the psp, what are its weapons to do so?

analog sticks/nubs have had many different looks
N64, Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX etc, all look different from each other.

Don't worry man, it's probably one of those power buttons where you have to hold it for a few secs to power off, prolly?
Now accidentally pressing the LCD button (brightness level button) is another story?

Even worse, the power and LCD on/off buttons are on the side, AND they look like the kind you press down. DESIGN FLAW ALERT!
SONY
Mar 4 2006, 12:25 AM
Well, eventually someone in their
stupid design testing team will see the 4 or 5 flaws on it and make some changes, hopefully.
Paradox
Mar 4 2006, 12:33 AM
um, do any of you even have a gp2x? the power button is in the same place, and it requires some force to actually turn it on and off, who's to say the same wont apply for the XGP?
Tobriand
Mar 4 2006, 12:34 AM
No they won't. This *is* Gamepark we're talking about. They're much more likely to notice the design successes, think of them as flaws for some reason, and add about 10 more.
I don't understand why everyone likes D-pads, though. The NGPC and the GP32 both played wonderfully with their joysticks, whilst on a GBC I only ever found myself able to last an hour at a time without feeling like I was about to get carpal tunnel syndrome... and it was all to do with the D-pad, imo.

Since most of the GP2X software is emulators playing stretched out to 16:9 with an analog stick is shite.

Which means it is always on draining power. Another one of those systems that drains itself so when you go to use it the battery is dead, great

Yet again, you claim the stick is analog with no evidence that it is actually analog. If I saw a GP2X with your stick, I could also make the assumption that it is analog.

It is in the original specs. It makes sense too because 3D is the focus of this and analog is used mostly for 3D nowdays.

if everyone on the forum started double posting it would be very silly, thats why its usual considered frowned upon, its not hard to edit your post, you only double post if the thread is old and nobody will see your post if you edit it.
