hi

I've made a simple mod on my gp2x, nothing how can avoid my warranty, but a good way to improve the original joystick.

I simply found an old cheap psx dual shock pad, I removed the rubber cap on one of the analog joystick, and I cutted a circle of rubber (10mm, 2mm less than the gp2x joystick), I made it thickness thin with a x-acto modelling knife, and glued it on the gp2x joystick cap with super glue gel. That's all! laugh.gif

Now, my joystick doesn't slip under my thumb anymore laugh.gif and this mod is almost invisible!

Not really an "hardcore" mod, but I'm happy with it...and I keep my 1 year warranty wink.gif

I didn't use my official and expensive ps2 pads, I used just a goold old taiwanese ps1 compatible dual shock crap...I cannot guarantee it will work with an official product laugh.gif

I peeled off the top of a Gamecube controller and tried it - works great, and far better than the stock cap, but it can't get rid of the issues with the joystick itself; its bias and unreliability to go where you want it to. For that you need a D-pad - my solution or Radek's appear to work just as well in practice.

unfortunately, dpad modding and soldering is too much trouble for most people.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Converting your joystick to D-pad voids your warranty, right?

kardasan - if you removed your joystick first, yes. My solution, no, as you aren't removing the joystick - in fact, you can revert back to your original situation in about 2 minutes if you need to (so who would know)... wink.gif

invinciblegod - absolutely, but it is no hassle if someone makes and provides one for you - quick bit of soldering, and done - no hassle, right? (at least with my solution) wink.gif
