At this rate, the idea of "using the search function" will become obsolete as many of the informative threads are just becoming slanging matches and the useful posts are getting lost amongst the carnage.

This is probably in the wrong forum but, God flame me, it's for a good cause!

Not really much point in banning anyone, there are many ways to get back into a forum, I think that indoctrination may work better laugh.gif

I agree - He said he wasn't going to buy one - so why the hell is he still posting about it? Complaining about a handheld he doesn't even own? huh.gif

Agreed, everyone put him on your ignore list.

The only way to knock reason into an unreasonable person is to be violent or be very patient, on the other hand, the person is probably frustrated because the person can't buy a GP2X biggrin.gif .

I could be wrong, but who cares, I'll certainly continue to adore this little machine regardless of other peoples opinions cool.gif .

Ignoring may be a good method, but I'm quite sure that the mods / admins here can think of better solutions laugh.gif

True, but I do have better things to do than read all the BS he spouts.

Yes Quite. Removing them was a breeze, Ive been spitting out blood for the past 2 hours, and went through over 25 gause pads already sad.gif Anyway, hando should install the annoying member ban mod or w/e its called. where instead of banning them, it gives them random timeouts, and plays annoying music on the website, that loops over and over, here is a link: http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/4300 Just need to modify it to work with 2.1

Mr.Jabberwocky
This is pathetic. The guy only expressed his views on a forum. It is not as if he is a lone voice of dissent either. Perhaps this over the top reaction just shows he hit a nerve with some of you. Surely you are not so insecure in your views that you cannot handle an opposing opinion.
The GP32 is still a part of this scene, and as someone who is still developing for it, he is a valuable asset.
It is also good to have a few people on the board who care about the homebrew scene. There are few enough of us as it is without trying to ban any of them.

Good luck with your teeth JaqMs. I am sure you will eventually come to terms with being ignored by these few - its a bit like being back in the playground.

You misunderstand my view at least; It's not him I have a problem with, it's everyone who rises to the baiting and starts slanging matches.. If people would just ignore him then I wouldn't find him a problem, but they don't, so I do.

I don't care how many people will ignore me. They will be the ones missing out on my GP32 GCS. You all go ahead and play your games made by Nintendo and Sega while I work on a program that is specifically suited for a handheld like a GP32.

I respect your opinions, but maybe you should try a GP2X before you judge it.
Alex.
Why turn your back to video games history (emulation), when you can embrace and learn from it in your future homebrew endeavours?

That's like a painter saying s/he won't look at any of Monet's paintings, a film student refusing to watch Citizen Kane, or a budding rock guitarist purposely avoiding ever hearing Smoke on the Water.

Any human creation is built upon the generations preceding it. That is how we progress as a species, and is our greatest defining asset. If we had to re-invent the wheel every few years, we'd get nowhere.

Besides that, y'know, there's a little thing of just having a lot of fun playing old games?
JaqMs

So JaqMs, you think that by re-creating something of the past , one degrades him / herself ? ...

Weak point.

If you think that all that exists now would exist now without the input of the past...

You know what a platformer is ?

Know how it was invented ?

Know who invented it ?

Know why it's a platformer ?, or even named a platformer ?

...

Make something new ( HEY, WHO SAID THAT IT HAD TO BE NAMED A GAME?, YOU MAY NAME IT A WOBBLER ) blink.gif , your own creation, not based on anything else, and then maybe you'll be right. ( I used game and Wobbler as an example, a feeble one, I know, it is why I... )

/ Goes behind curtain before anyone sees him !!!

I still like your attitude though laugh.gif
Loubear
Dude, you have problems, jaqms. Because, if everyone just totally forgot our past achievements, what would happen? No matter how terrible, we can't forget it, for fear of it happening agian. Would you want another holocaust?
Yono
The whole genre of Hip-Hop is a ways of looking at the past. DJs (real ones, not the guys who do Bar Mitzvahs) take old albums and remix them to create an entirely new song. The whole art of sampling is based off of building from other's creations.

How about collages? Are you saying that Picasso's creations in his later years weren't art because he didn't make them from scratch? Adapting something can be as great as skill as creating it.

Abominations, I tell you. It makes me gringe, everytime I hear a "mix" of an 80's song I used to love... Ought to be taken to a hole someplace and shot.

But that's just my opinion, even if someone disagrees, he has the right to do so, and I'm not going to force him to abandon his musical "taste". (""'s for humorous effect.) smile.gif
jmetal88
It's more remakes that tick me off rather than remixes. Some remixes are pretty cool, but a lot of modern remakes just suck. They started sucking in the late '90s, though, I can at least stomach remakes from the early '90s and before.
BobBorakovitz
haha, i love the annoying member feature, that just sounds hilarious!
when can we expect this?

It sounds to me like he's just a 12 year old just trying to get under peoples skin, or a really bitchy, vindicative (ex)girlfriend, lol. His arguments are always short and 1 or 2 sentences, and always negative.

A mod is short for a moderator. They're the people that make topics sticky, lock topics, delete them, and so forth. Some forums also give them the ability to ban members. They keep things under control.

Trolling is going against rules, accepted opinions, and other such things to stir up a negative reaction. For instance, if I were to go over to the GP32 section and declare that homebrew and emulators suck, commercial games for life go get a PSP you idiots(NOT MY ACTUAL OPINION I LOVE HOMEBREW AND EMULATORS PLEASE DON'T KILL ME), that would be trolling. Another method of trolling is 'flaming', where you insult people fiercely and such.

Instead of Guru status we should give JaqMs a certified GP2X shit face status next to his name. Yeah a nice big logo like that would do nicely.
