The kickstart ROM is not freely-distributable. You can find it using google however. Make sure that you get the overdumped 512K version. You may not post requests for commercial software on this forum.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why is it that it requires the overdumped ROM in the first place? Is it not possible to just have the emulator use the clean dump instead? Is it something to do with mirrored ROM addresses?

Ideally, I'd like to see all the [o]'s and [b]'s go away and stop clogging up the intertubes... They're just garbage data anyways.

Ok...I got the amiga emulator running some time ago. My SD card somehow got wiped randomly a couple months back and I cant remember how I got it working.

Search around on the boards and google. I will try to remember to look at my SD card at home and see if I have it set up properly.

Also this should help out a lot:

If your PC one is the commercial version then it'll come with an encrypted rom to stop you using it on anything else.

Just google, you'll find it easily enough smile.gif

Try the Atari ST Emulator instead.

99.9% of games play and look identical to the Amiga versions (sound is lesser, of course). It runs at full speed and there is no pissing about with various kickstart revisions for different games (nice one Commodore)! rolleyes.gif

You don't need to piss around with various kickstart revisions for different games. Use 1.3.

At least Atari were honest enough to name their effort "TOS", I suppose.

Oh because all Atari STs had only one TOS rom right? UAE4ALL is an OCS/ECS emu so kickstart 1.3 is fine and all you need to run OCS/ECS games...

To the original poster just find the overdumped kickstart 1.3 and you are set.

*SIGH*

1) I have owned both machines for a number of years. Most games play and look identical. If I had the time or the inclination, I would post screenshots to prove it but I wouldn't want to apear as sad as you...

2) Not all games will play on 1.3, so it's not 'fine'.

3) Stop being a fucking retard. I'm so sick of people on this forum trying to show off by slagging other pople off who are genuinely trying to help. I don't use the Amiga emulator anymore because the ST one does just as well but faster and with much less hassle - that was my advice. If you don't like it, why not let the original poster decide for himself (as that's who the advice was aimed at) and you can go and do something more useful like boil your head... dry.gif

Not all, but most. Except for the horrible sound conversion they often did (heck, even C64 Turrican sounds better than the ST one).
And some games look terrible (i.e. Rock'n'Roll).
Most games are fine, though.

Well, most games that use old OCS / ECS chipset work fine on 1.3.
Only exception are some really old games (i.e. Bubble Bobble, Archon) that need 1.2 and some newer games. But those need other stuff that's not correctly emulated yet anyways.

I'd say about as many Amiga games run on 1.3 as do Atari ST games on the old TOS image (was it 1.5? I forgot). So, no difference here. I found a lot of ST games not running.

Well, everybody has his own opinions here. When there's a decent ST version out, I play it.
However, one of the most important aspects for me (yes, for me, not for you or some other guys) is good sound... and Atari ST often hurts my ears. Games like Flood that don't have much sound at all are fine for me, though smile.gif
Tonka
Thanks for (kinda) backing me up there, EvilDragon.

And differing opinions are fine with me - I just don't like the sarcastic way in which some people express them around here...

Oh, and I'm totally with you on the ST sound chip - it sucks... wink.gif
Iorgy77
So from 99.9% it has become most now. I own both machines as well and if you are happy to play games on the ST instead of proper non ported amiga version then you are truly missing out. Turrican ST and Turrican Amiga do not look identical a good example is The Great Giana Sisters, you seen the scrolling on the ST version? The original poster was asking for help getting the amiga emulator going not looking for alternative inferior versions to be suggested. So you rebut my sarcasm with swearing... YOU ROCK BUDDY!

Your advice was wrong and flawed so I was just setting the record straight... 99.9%???????? PFFT! If you want to state an opinion thats fine just dont expect to spout garbage and not get called up on it. I prefer to use sarcasm rather than swearing at you.

There are many amiga games that dont even exist on the ST.

And by the way ED Bubble Bobble works fine here on ks1.3.

I love OutcaST and loved CaSTaway on the gp32, I even donated to skeezix on several occasions in appreciation for his efforts on them. But an ST is not an Amiga and UAE4ALL runs many games very well.

Ah, might be a cracker fix smile.gif I never tried it on the Emu, I just own the original Bubble Bobble... and that worked only on 1.2 wink.gif

If I play Bubble Bobble, I use MAME smile.gif

OK, OK - 99.9% wasn't strictly accurate, but lighten up a little! This is a forum for a mutimedia handheld device - it's really not life and death y'know... Truly - it wasn't the fact that you were disagreeing that pissed me off, just your attitude.

I prefer to swear at you than use sarcasm, so I guess we're equal on that one.

Sure, but most of the more popular ones do - those are what I (and I imagine most others) play. I stick by the fact that most of the popular games are identical (Stuntcar Racer, Nebulus, Monkey Island, Cannon Fodder, Virus, etc). It's just another avenue for the original poster to explore. I explored it and have dumped Amiga Emulation for good, so I thought it was worthwhile 'spouting my garbage'.

But both run fine on UAE smile.gif
