Has anyone else noticed that the possible overclocking seems to be worse with the 940 than the 920?

I can happily play at 270mhz with all programs that only use the 920, but picodrive for example tells me that the 940 crashes at that speed.

So is it really the 940 that is causing it, or could it be related to running one or two cores?

I think each processor has its limits
What makes me wonder is that I play Picodrive dual core@255 stable (940 crash above 260), but Egoboo crashes at the default 240Mhz

yeah didn't you see the 940Mhz edition? it only runs when your GP2X is submerged in a bucket of liquid nitrogen

Since overclocking pushes each processor beyond their spec, I would imagine that you could as easily have a 940 that doesn't like being overclocked beyond a particular point as a 920, and from what I've read there are plenty of GP2X's out there with 920s that struggle over 240Mhz... My 940 seems to crash at 266, but clocks up to 250MHz with no problems... otoh, my 920 handles 266MHz without breaking a sweat... Of course, in the case of Picodrive, 250MHz seems more than sufficient - at least for my fave Genesis games. (Now if I could only get Herzog Zwei working properly!)

Could it be that running 2 processors pulls more from the batteries?
I know that my gp2x is stable at 290MHz when using a power adapter yet it can barely get to 270MHz when on batteries, so it might not be all that far fetched.

250mhz...? All've the games I've tried run 60fps at 200mhz...

Actually, I only installed Picodrive a couple days ago; I jacked up the clock to 266 first time I looked in the options menu and got the 940 error, then brought it down to 250 and started playing some of my fave games (esp. The Immortal, The Terminator and Castlevania Bloodlines); truth is I got caught up in the games and never really get around to pulling the clock speed down again to find the most efficient speed... I'll have to drop it to 200MHz again... and yes, I do have a lot of sets of rechargable AA's lying around!

Yes but hey, if you're on a PSU, why stay at 200Mhz when you can clock 250

my 920 clocks to 273 stable but my 940 only clocks to 255.
