FO REAL?

If so, I would hope that the specs really are much better so that we can get psx emulation and like 486-33 level dosbox emu going.

I suppose I would sell my gp2x if/when it comes, even though I haven't used it that much I wouldn't consider it a waste of money.

So what is everyones thoughts on it?

I think this:

No it's not for real. Look at yesterday's date. The day when all sorts of people try to make "funny" press releases and similar stories.
Samba Pa Ti

PokeParadox
Didn't notice this then... http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showtopic=36187&hl= ?

I fell for it at first glance, too though...

Brighten up? me?

Sorry, I clearly was wrong to assume that people knew if you posted an April fools joke AFTER 12PM on April 1st that you were the fool and that the joke was on you.

That is the rule. How dare I assume people had the intelligence to know this tongue.gif

That's only in some countries, it's not a global "rule". And why take it all so serious? :)

Without rules, there's chaos. Hopefully, Ed learned an important lesson from all this rolleyes.gif

i've never heard of that rule. plus, if ED didn't know what time it was, it's legit either way. like not seeing a red light.

plus, the gp3x is real. werty is working with GPH right now on the firmware.
tim0391
well with the success rate of the gp2x surely they will make another one smile.gif

Right,
It's not April fools day any more so what am I to assume?

Eddie

EDIT:

Now,
I was curious about this:
# In case of 3rd batch GP2X, you need to connect external adaptors only when you use high-power devices like HDD.
#

Source:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-d1-49-en-70-1f8w.html

What's the third batch?

I'm assuming the 2nd batch was the mark 2?
So the 3rd batch is?

It sounds better anyway

I'm assuming it's not just a production batch as it actually seems to be better/ improved from the other ones, changed anyway.

Eddie
tim0391
this came up before i think it means the second batch as the third

marketing hype biggrin.gif

they're probably talking about the mk2. i think there were actually 4 hardware revisions (1st edition, then the regular - retroactively named "mk1", then that one with a different resistor near the screen, then the mk2 (new screen, rotated stick, 5v for usb). it says something to that effect in the wiki but i can't check now cause it's down. but if you ignore the little while were the one resistor changed, you get three builds ending with the mk2.
purple_goat
if it pops up on gp2x.com, I will belive it (an pre-order laugh.gif )..

Squidge
There's also no more compatibility problems with SD cards on the GP3X, as it doesn't have an SD slot - everythings built into the 200kB firmware for instant access wink.gif

biggrin.gif
Peter R
And there is no GUI and it does nothing but the the firmware handles it all with no ASM, only forth!
sand_man
I'm sure "wwerty" will be able to improve the GP3X further by adding some softkeys around the screen tongue.gif
Squidge
Isn't that what the touchscreen is for? smile.gif

There is no interface, the just screen does not hold linux up with interrupts. There will be no linux it will run nothing and soft keys!

There will be piano keys, you will program with a combination of Forth and Rachmaninoff.

Better yet if you take the same bus ride to work every day have speed bumps installed on the route and an acceleration sensor, it could download the firmware as the bus hits the speed bumps smile.gif.

In the future, breakout boxes may only be half the size of the room, have 45,000 vacuum tubes, and weigh 30 tons.

And it will use internal mercury delay-line memory to hold the firmware! Storage CRTs will work with the aforementioned breakout box.

And it will be incredibly easy to port programs written for IBM System/360!
