Full Version: Microsd Cards In The Gp2x

Mr. Sentinel
Hi everyone. First post here.

To quickly introduce myself, I come from the DS homebrew "scene". I know a lot about homebrew in general, but not a much about actually developing it. I recently lost my NDS flash cart ($200 AUD worth), so instead of buying a new one, I'm really considering buying a GP2X instead (~$230 AUD).

I had planned to buy another NDS flash cart, so I brought a 1GB MicroSD card in preparation. Since I won't be needing it for a flash cart, does anyone know if it will work as a regular SD card in the GP2X? Or should I go get a real SD card? It came with an SD card-size adaptor, so it shouldn't have any problems fitting.

Also, if I do need a proper SD card, does the quality/manufacturer/brand influence GP2X software like it does Nintendo DS software (cheap cards cause slowdowns, etc)? As for my MicroSD card, it's a SanDisk, which I'm told is quite reputable (and at $60 AUD for a gig, it better be tongue.gif)

I apologise if this has been asked before, but I did search the forum and Google for info earlier this afternoon.

Thanks in advance.

I assume the microSD will have no problem. I use miniSD with adapter (2gig transcend, 1gig sandisk, 128mb nokia) and they all work just fine.

I haven't had any problems with software on any of my SD/MMC cards ( 4gig 150x Great Performance, 4gig Transcend, 128mb sandisk, 1gig 80x transcend, 256mb 45x transcend, 128mb Ritz, 256mb Samsung MMC Plus, 16mb Panasonic MMC).

I have a 1st edition Gp2x using firmware 2.0

Yup it works. Got my gp2x yesterday but no SDcard yet, borrowed my GFs micro SD from her phone and it worked like a charm.

Sure should work as they are the same technology, microSD is just smaller SD. I'm going to use my 1GB Sandisk microSD until I have money to buy a 4GB SD.

I can confirm that microSD also works on my GP2X. I've tried two (original one that game with my phone -> 64MB, and the one i bought after -> 2GB). I can't remember what brand the 64MB is, but the 2GB is made by Patriot.

yes, used 1GB microSD just no problem at all, right now I'm using transcend 4GB 150x SD card, the old one I hang it on GP2X keychain for backup, smile.gif

Thanks for the help and welcomes. The GP2X is looking better and better all the time.
