I goto run mame on the new gp2x f200 and all i get is a black screen and a loud hum. anyone know why??

ya my f200 does the same thing idk. Its not just yours though.

perhaps it isn't compatible with firmware 4.0

i wonder if mame32 would work on a mkII gp2x running firmware 4.0

yea, its weird, if you try to run mame_gp2x.gpe, you immediately get the black screen. but if you run femamegp2x.gpe, it will boot, but when you click on a game, you get the black screen/hum.

That is because femame is simply a frontend (and a fantastic one), so it's an entirely different program to mame itself. What it does is launches mame_gp2x.gpe for you.

Yeah this is happening to me also- I only got my f200 today and have been trying to sort it out for 7 hours.

I am trying to run the mega drive emulator- as it was one of the ones listed to work.

Everytime I try to open Sonic it goes black and hums.

I am a complete n00b to this, but I believe I have done everything correctly.

Have I got the correct rom? its a zip file and I think its in the correct directory.

Would be very gratful for some help.

Incase it helps - I'm using PicoDrive - ROMS are not zipped and all working fine...

the new firmvare 4 did brek some things we just dont nou what give it some time wenn we vill find what gph did some 1 will release a patch just asking have gph released the source code for firmvare 4 like to take a lock at it

I sucseffuly beat dragons lair on the f200. still glitchy, though. space ace still choppy.

At what stage does MAME get to on the F-200? Straight to a black screen or do you get to the ROM selection screen?
